The progress in the implementation of UNESCO's programmes and Budget for 2026-2029, the direction of UNESCO's Medium-Term Strategy as well as preparations for UNESCO's 80th anniversary celebrations were among the agendas deliberated during the Third Regional Meeting of Five National Commissions for UNESCO. The virtual meeting held recently also explored opportunities with ASEAN and efforts to strengthen regional and international cooperation through knowledge sharing and collaborative initiatives across the fields of education, science, culture, and communication in support of the Sustainable Development Goals across the region.
Participating in the meeting was Awang Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Acting Permanent Secretary for Core Education at the Ministry of Education, in his capacity as representative of the Secretary-General of the National Commission of Brunei Darussalam for UNESCO. The meeting was co-organised by the Malaysian National Commission for UNESCO, MNCU and the UNESCO Regional Office in Jakarta. The meeting aimed to further strengthen collaboration among the National Commissions for UNESCO, while serving as a platform for the exchange of experiences, best practices and initiatives implemented by member states.
